Vodafone Foundation and Imperial College London ask phone users to help fight COVID-19

The Vodafone Foundation and scientists at Imperial College London are asking smartphone users across the UK to support a project to speed up research into effective treatments for Covid-19. The Corona-AI (artificial intelligence) project will be delivered through DreamLab, an award-winning app developed by the Vodafone Foundation and launched in 2017 to facilitate cancer research.

IoT connections to reach 83 billion by 2024

A new study from Juniper Research found that the total number of IoT connections will reach 83 billion by 2024, rising from 35 billion connections in 2020. This represents a growth of 130% over the next 4 years. The research identified the industrial sector as a key driver of this growth. It forecast that this expansion will be driven by the increasing use of private networks that leverage cellular networks standards.

Enterprise IT specialist Nowcomm teams with AT&T Cybersecurity and Cybsafe

Networking, collaboration and security technology specialist, Nowcomm has formed two new partnerships in the cybersecurity sector. High-speed fibre now makes up half of all fixed internet in nine OECD countries

Nine OECD countries – up from six a year ago – now have high-speed fibre that makes up 50% or more of their fixed Internet connections, according to an update to the OECD’s broadband portal. Working with more than 100 countries, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) is a global policy forum that promotes policies to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
