Sigfox launches second Paris Hacking House helping students to bring IoT-based projects to life

Sigfox, the Internet of Things (IoT) service provider, has launched the second French edition of its Hacking House in Paris. For six months, participants from seven different countries will bring IoT-based projects to life addressing issues as diverse as car theft prevention and bird protection.

Orange Spain and Vodafone Spain both aim to transform customer relationships

Orange Spain has chosen St. Louis-based Amdocs a provider of software and services to communications and media companies, to drive new services and revenue in the digital economy.The project encompasses a large-scale IT and business transformation, including a multi-year contract with managed services, the managed upgrade of tens of legacy systems, and technology provided by multiple partners.

European industries and academics partner to develop multi-access private networks beyond 5G

InterDigital Europe, Ltd., a subsidiary of InterDigital Inc., a mobile and video technology R&D company, is the latest organisation to participate in the 5G-CLARITY project.

This is a joint effort with a consortium of partners in Europe to develop automated solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI) for private networks beyond 5G. The project integrates multiple wireless access technologies and their evolutions from 3GPP 5G New Radio, IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi, and IEEE 802.11 Li-Fi.

IDC predicts strong growth in spending on digital transformation & innovation

Investments in digital transformation and innovation will account for 30% of all IT spending in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) by 2024, up from 18% in 2018. That’s according to the latest predictions revealed by International Data Corporation (IDC) as it hosted more than 500 of the region’s most influential ICT industry figures at Dubai’s Atlantis, The Palm for IDC Directions 2020.

Businesses have been using public internet as a cost-saving measure for decades, but as operations have started moving to cloud-based strategies, the money saved is being negated by lower productivity and reliability.

According to Nemertes 2019 Cybersecurity Research Study the average enterprise now has more workloads (56%) sourced in external clouds than in their own data centres.
